Benchmarking is comparing/measuring the performance (quantitative and qualitative) of a business, sport/not for profit organisation against the performance of another or similar business/organisation. It is not the same as best practice. Best practice relates to the standard of the practice whereas benchmarking relates to the level of performance. Drivingforces generally recommends that rather than try to benchmark every aspect of its business activities, the greatest benefit is gained by identifying and benchmarking those areas that are critical to achieving its performance and/or its main strategic KPIs/metrics. Drivingforces has developed a number of benchmark standards for its clients that enable them to document and implement them in a manner that provides a useful measuring tool for their boards and management to improve the baseline performance of their business/organisation. |
